As the desert heat of summer gives way to Arizona’s beautiful autumn weather, it’s the perfect time to rejuvenate your skin and embrace a refreshed appearance. With exciting new FDA approvals, Ultherapy now offers non-surgical skin tightening for both the face and the body for those seeking to restore their youthful glow this fall season.

Revolutionary Ultherapy PRIME® Skin Tightening Technology

Ultherapy PRIME® represents the latest innovation in non-surgical skin tightening, delivering focused ultrasound energy deeper, faster, and more comfortably than ever before. This cutting-edge technology is the only FDA-cleared treatment to non-invasively lift and tighten skin on the brow, jawline, neck, and under the chin, while also smoothing lines on the décolletage.

Unlike lasers or radiofrequency treatments that work on the surface, Ultherapy PRIME® bypasses the skin’s outer layer and uses microfocused ultrasound to stimulate your body’s own collagen production from within. The treatment creates controlled thermal zones beneath the skin, triggering your body’s natural healing response to produce fresh collagen and elastin over time.

Breakthrough FDA Approval for Body Skin Tightening

Exciting news for non-surgical skin tightening in Arizona: Ultherapy PRIME® has recently received FDA clearance for use on the upper arms and abdomen, expanding treatment options beyond traditional facial applications. This groundbreaking approval opens new possibilities for comprehensive body rejuvenation without surgery.

Upper Arm Skin Tightening: Say Goodbye to “Bat Wings”

As we age, the skin on the upper arms often becomes loose due to factors such as estrogen loss or significant weight loss, leading to crepey, sagging skin that many find concerning. Ultherapy treatments for the upper arms deliver precise ultrasound energy deep into the dermis, where collagen formation occurs, stimulating natural collagen and elastin production.

The upper arm treatment process begins with a topical numbing cream before the ultrasound handpiece is applied to the skin. The device delivers targeted pulses that heat the tissue, encouraging new collagen growth without damaging the skin’s surface. Patients often describe the sensation as warm “pins and needles,” with cooling air used for enhanced comfort. A typical session for the upper arms lasts about 75 minutes, including preparation time.

Most patients see significant improvement after just one treatment, though some may benefit from a second session depending on their goals and skin condition. With Ultherapy PRIME®, you can feel confident going sleeveless again and enjoying Arizona’s beautiful autumn weather.

Abdominal Skin Tightening: Restore Core Confidence

The newly FDA-approved abdominal treatments target loose skin that may result from pregnancy, weight fluctuations, or natural aging processes. This non-surgical skin tightening option provides an alternative to invasive procedures, helping restore a more youthful abdominal contour.

Comprehensive Skin Tightening for Face & Body

In addition to the arms and abdomen, Ultherapy can also address other areas of the body:

  • Décolletage and chest area – Perfect for addressing sun damage and crepey skin from Arizona’s intense summer sun
  • Face and neck – The original gold standard applications for comprehensive facial rejuvenation

The Science Behind Lasting Results

The effectiveness of Ultherapy lies in its ability to stimulate collagen production at multiple depths. The treatment utilizes different transducers that can target depths of 1.5mm, 3.0mm, and 4.5mm beneath the skin. This precision allows practitioners to customize treatments for each individual’s unique concerns and anatomy.

Clinical studies have demonstrated impressive results, with patients experiencing noticeable improvements in skin firmness and texture. The treatment works by creating tiny areas of thermal coagulation, which the body repairs by producing new collagen over time, resulting in:

  • Firmer, tighter skin
  • Improved texture and elasticity
  • More defined contours
  • A lifted, refreshed appearance

Why Autumn is Perfect for Skin Tightening

Fall is an ideal time for Ultherapy treatments. After a summer of sun exposure, many people notice increased signs of aging and skin damage. The cooler autumn temperatures make it more comfortable to undergo treatments, and the gradual nature of Ultherapy results means you’ll see improvements developing throughout the fall and winter months.

Additionally, there’s minimal downtime with Ultherapy treatments. Some patients experience mild redness or swelling that typically resolves within a few hours to days. This makes it perfect for busy Scottsdale residents who want to maintain their active lifestyles while addressing skin concerns.

The Blume Skin & Body Advantage in Skin Tightening

At Blume Skin & Body, we’re proud to be Arizona’s #1 provider of Ultherapy treatments and one of the first practices in the region to offer Ultherapy PRIME®, recently featured in a national campaign with Salma Hayek. Our team has served as a Center of Excellence Training site for Merz/Ultherapy, ensuring unparalleled expertise in facial anatomy and energy-based aesthetics.

Dr. Blume’s personal experience with Ultherapy speaks to the treatment’s effectiveness and comfort level. Having undergone the procedure multiple times, Dr. Blume can personally attest to its impressive results. Our patient testimonials consistently highlight the exceptional care and outstanding results achieved at our Scottsdale location.

What to Expect During Your Treatment

Your Ultherapy journey begins with a comprehensive consultation to review your goals and medical history, and to determine the ideal areas to target. A topical numbing cream or nitrous oxide may be used to ensure comfort throughout the process.

During the procedure, a smooth ultrasound applicator is applied to the skin with ultrasound gel. Real-time imaging allows your provider to deliver precise energy to the optimal depth, triggering new collagen where it matters most. Most patients feel a warming or tingling sensation, but discomfort is minimal, especially with Ultherapy PRIME®’s enhanced comfort technology.

Long-Lasting, Natural Skin Tightening Results

One of the most appealing aspects of non-surgical skin tightening like Ultherapy is the natural progression of results. Because the treatment works by stimulating collagen production, results build gradually over 3 to 6 months. Results typically last 1 to 3 years, depending on your skin and aging process, and many patients choose annual maintenance treatments to support continued collagen production.

Ready to Transform Your Skin This Autumn?

Don’t let summer’s effects on your skin define your fall appearance. With the exciting new FDA approvals for upper arms and abdomen, Ultherapy body treatments offer more comprehensive options than ever before to restore your skin’s youthful vitality without surgery or extended downtime.

Scottsdale’s intense sun and dry heat can be tough on your skin, making a proactive approach to summer skin care essential. As temperatures rise, common concerns like dryness, acne, pigmentation, and sunburn become more prominent. Preparing your skin for summer not only helps maintain a healthy, youthful glow but also protects against long-term sun damage. Professional treatments at Blume Skin & Body can enhance your routine, offering advanced solutions tailored for Scottsdale’s climate-so you can enjoy the season with confidence and radiant skin.

Hydration is Key

Arizona’s low humidity can quickly dehydrate your skin, leading to dullness and irritation. Hydration treatments are crucial for maintaining a supple, healthy complexion. At Blume Skin & Body, the HydraFacial® deeply cleanses, exfoliates, and infuses the skin with nourishing serums, leaving it visibly smoother and more hydrated in just one session. The Geneo Facial is another advanced option for boosting moisture retention, helping your skin stay resilient against the dry Scottsdale air. For optimal results, pair these in-office treatments with daily use of a quality moisturizer and increased water intake.

Sun Protection: Your Best Defense

With Scottsdale’s high UV index, sun protection is a year-round priority. Broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 is a must-zinc or titanium-based formulas offer safe, effective coverage. Reapply every two hours, especially after swimming or sweating, and don’t forget often-missed areas like lips and ears. After professional treatments such as laser therapies or facial peels, diligent sun protection is even more critical to prevent pigmentation and ensure optimal healing.

Exfoliation for a Glowing Complexion

Regular exfoliation removes dead skin cells, revealing a brighter, smoother complexion. Professional exfoliation treatments at Blume, such as Dermaplaning and DiamondGlow, can enhance skin texture and tone while minimizing the risk of irritation commonly caused by at-home scrubs. These services are ideal for preparing your skin to better absorb hydrating and protective products, giving you that summer-ready glow.

Addressing Common Summer Skin Concerns

Summer can worsen issues like pigmentation, sunspots, acne, and melasma. Advanced treatments at Blume, including Lumenis M-22 ResurFX™, Moxi, RF Microneedling, Micropen and Photofractional therapies, target pigmentation and acne scars for clearer, more even skin. These non-invasive options are tailored to address the unique challenges of Scottsdale’s climate, helping you maintain a flawless complexion.

Body Contouring Options for Summer

As pool season approaches, many look for effective ways to contour their bodies without surgery. Blume offers non-invasive solutions like CoolSculpting® ELITE, CoolTone®, and BlumeSculpt Neo to reduce stubborn fat and sculpt your physique. These treatments require no downtime, making them ideal for busy Scottsdale residents preparing for summer vacations or events.

Daily sun protection is a cornerstone of healthy skin, especially in sunny climates like Scottsdale, AZ. The best sunscreen is one you’ll use consistently—ideally a broad-spectrum product with at least SPF 30, suited to your skin type and preferences. Here are several dermatologist-recommended options for daily use, each offering unique benefits for various needs.

Achieving healthy and radiant skin is a goal many share. However, maintaining a flawless complexion can be challenging due to the harmful effects of the sun’s rays. Fortunately, sun-safe skin treatments are available that enhance your skin’s appearance, minimize downtime, and allow you to continue enjoying the outdoors.

What Are Sun Safe Skin Treatments?

Sun-safe skin treatments are cosmetic procedures designed to rejuvenate and enhance the skin’s appearance without subjecting it to extended periods of sun avoidance or the need for significant downtime. These treatments utilize advanced technologies to stimulate collagen production, improve texture and tone, reduce signs of aging, and promote overall skin health. Let’s take a closer look at some popular sun-safe treatments available today.

Ultherapy

Ultherapy is a non-invasive procedure that uses ultrasound energy to tighten and lift drooping skin. By targeting the deep layers of the skin, ultherapy stimulates collagen production, resulting in a firmer and more youthful complexion. Ultherapy is an excellent choice for individuals seeking a non-surgical facelift or neck lift.

RF Microneedling

RF microneedling combines the benefits of microneedling with radiofrequency energy to effectively treat a range of skin concerns. The tiny needles create microchannels in the skin, allowing the radiofrequency energy to penetrate deeper and stimulate collagen production. RF microneedling is a versatile treatment that can address wrinkles, acne scars, and uneven skin tone and skin texture.

Lumenis TriLift Laser

The Lumenis TriLift Laser is a cutting-edge treatment that utilizes radiofrequency, muscle stimulation, and microneedling technology to target specific areas of the skin. This non-invasive procedure stimulates collagen synthesis, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, and improves skin tone and texture.

HydraFacial + Skinstylus

HydraFacial combined with Skinstylus is a dynamic duo for radiant and hydrated skin. The HydraFacial treatment deeply cleanses, exfoliates, and hydrates the skin, while the Skinstylus device makes small punctures in the skin to stimulate collagen production and address specific skin concerns. It also gives the serum used in the HydraFacial a place to go to deeply penetrate the skin.

This combination treatment is suitable for all skin types and provides instant results, making it an ideal option before a special event or as part of a regular skincare routine.

Facials

Facials are a versatile and customizable skincare treatment that can address many concerns, from hydration and deep cleansing to anti-aging and brightening. At Blume Skin & Body, we offer a variety of facials tailored to meet individual needs. Some of our popular facials include:

  • Geneo Facial: Good for brightening and revitalizing dull skin.

April is rosacea awareness month. Around 3 million people each year are diagnosed with rosacea but signs and symptoms are often difficult to miss because they resemble acne and other skin conditions. Here is everything you need to know about the key symptoms of rosacea and how you can achieve clear and healthy skin.

What is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a progressive vascular disorder that affects the face and the eyes. It presents itself with facial redness and skin flaking or irritation. Skin thickening, especially on the nose, and spider veins or visible blood vessels are also common symptoms of rosacea. If rosacea goes untreated, it can develop into ocular rosacea which causes severe eye irritation and can be damaging to your eyesight. Acne rosacea is also another form of the condition, and it results in pus-filled bumps that may be tender to the touch.

What Causes Rosacea?

There is no one cause of rosacea since flare-ups can be caused by various factors. However, people with fair skin or those with a family history of rosacea are often more at risk for developing this skin condition. It’s important to know your triggers. Of course, everybody’s skin is different and requires different care. The same goes for rosacea. Some of the most common triggers are:

  • Exposure to sunlight
  • Stress
  • Strenuous exercise
  • Hot or cold weather
  • Hot beverages
  • Alcohol or caffeine
  • Certain foods like seafood or spicy foods

How Can You Treat Rosacea?

Rosacea can be extremely difficult to treat on your own. So many individuals believe that, after being diagnosed with rosacea, there really isn’t anything that can be done to reduce the persistent redness, flaking, irritation, broken capillaries, and acne bumps. But that isn’t true at all! Skincare products alone typically are not effective but here are a few tips on helping to control a rosacea flare.

Make sure you were using the appropriate skin care for your condition. Using products containing actives, like glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and retinoids can be irritating to the skin when used improperly. This can also trigger a rosacea flare. Consulting with a licensed medical aesthetician to establish a customized skincare routine is key! As we enter into warmer months, it’s important to remember to try and keep your body hydrated. Seek shade when possible. Too much sun exposure is not only damaging to your skin, but it can also trigger a rosacea flare faster than you think!

In-Office Rosacea Treatments

Based on your concerns and goals, a licensed medical aesthetician will plan accordingly with your rosacea in mind.

Photofacial

Treatments like BBL or IPL Photofacial can help to reduce skin redness and inflammation. It also helps to kill P acne, which will help reduce acne breakouts associated with rosacea. The broadband light heats up the broken capillaries and broken blood vessels, eliminating them from the skin. Photofacial treatment also helps to stimulate collagen production, which will help to strengthen the skin, improving its overall quality.

Topical Medications

Since rosacea can come with a slew of side effects, irritation is one of the top concerns. Thankfully, there are topical treatments that can help reduce the irritation that comes with rosacea. The Rozatrol Hydrafacial booster is a safe way to relieve the visible signs of red, sensitized skin and detox the skin. While it replenishes the hydration within the skin, it also helps to support a healthy skin barrier.

Schedule a Consultation

When you combine custom skincare treatments and medical-grade skin care, managing your rosacea will become easier and less stressful. To treat your rosacea, know that you are not alone! There will always be somebody alongside you, helping you along this journey. Being on a skincare journey can sometimes feel like a roller coaster. But know that you are in control.

Schedule a consultation with our team to discuss rosacea treatment in Scottsdale, AZ.

What are Jowls?

Woman looking at her jowlsn

Jowls – the annoying sagging skin/ fat that hangs along the lower face and jawline.  Why do we have them and what can we do about them?  Jowls can be the result of many different factors, with age being the primary cause.  However, several factors can cause jowls to develop faster, such as genetics, facial expressions, weight loss, sun exposure, smoking, and use of computers or phones.  All of the factors listed above have a direct impact on the loss of collagen and elastin, which can contribute to a heavy looking facial shape.  In this post, we will explore why jowls happen and how they can be treated, including with something as simple as a 30-minute toxin appointment.

With age, we lose collagen and elastin in the cheeks and around the jawline.  Why are collagen and elastin important? Collagen is a protein that makes up the connective tissue in the body.  Elastin is another type of connective tissue that helps with skin snap back.  Think of connective tissue as the glue of the body.

Jowls can also be the result of genetics.  Genetics can determine a lot of the physical changes we experience as we age, and the jowls are no exception.  If either of your parents have jowls, it is likely that you will develop jowls.

Sun exposure, which is pretty much unavoidable in Arizona, can also be a contributing factor to jowl likelihood and severity.  Sun damage accelerates the break down of collagen and elastin (Picture A).  With the premature loss of connective tissue, the skin is more prone to sagging from the lack of facial tissue support.  The best defense against the sun is to limit exposure, wear medical grade sunscreen and protective clothing.

Whether its age, lifestyle, or genetics, once our collagen and elastin supplies become compromised, so does the fat in our cheeks.  Not only do we lose fat, but the fat pads that we do have slide down and forward, due to the loss of connective tissue (Picture B).  With a decrease in facial tissue support, our skin becomes thinner and does not have the snap-back that it once had.

Now that we know the many contributing factors that cause jowls, what can we do about them?  The muscle underneath the jowls is called the platysma.  The platysma basically acts as a turtle neck starting at the jowls/jaw line and extends down to the collar bone (Picture C).  As we age, the platysma and the muscle under the jowls (depressor anguli oris) stretches the skin down and out.  This is sometimes referred to as “turkey neck” and is the result of the platysma contracting, creating bands (Picture D).  Accentuated platysmal bands can also be the result of clenching or stress.

C:  Platysma muscle

D:  Before having platysmal bands treated vs.
two weeks after.

Before having platysmal bands treated vs.

For patients who have mild sagging of the jowls, toxin can be injected into the jowls and platysmal bands to help relax the muscle, which helps give the jowls a lift. If a patient has a history of clenching, it would be recommended to treat the masseter muscle, which can further help lift the jowls and enhance the jawline.

Once the toxin settles in, patients will notice the corners of their smile are slightly turned up, the chin no longer has an orange peel look and the jawline and neck appear sharper. Think of toxin as shapeware for your neck and jowls. If a patient has excess fat in the jowl/neck area, or moderate sagging, Kybella, Coolsculpting, or a skin tightening treatment may be the best place to start.

If you’d like to find out how Blume Skin & Body can help treat your sagging jowls, give us a call or schedule a consultation with us!

A Treatment Trifecta to Fight Collagen Loss on 3 Different Levels

If you’ve experienced collagen loss due to aging, you may have looked into a wide array of treatments. You may be asking yourself “Do I Need Filler or Ultherapy?”

The good news is, you don’t have to choose….do both and get twice the results with the 3D Collagen Boost!!

As we age, our collagen production slows down, starting in our late 20’s. As we get older, that process slows down more and more. Collagen loss looks like less volume, loose skin, thin skin, skin laxity and drooping skin. Collagen supplements and powders have become extremely popularized, however there are limitations to what those can truly do for your skin. The best results come from treatments that can replace volume loss, and help our bodies to actually produce more collagen again, giving us long-lasting results.

Natural Aging Process and Collagen
Source: https://parjournal.net/article/view/3863

During the natural aging process, our body slows down the production of collagen, causing loose skin and wrinkles. At Blume Skin & Body, we love to treat volume loss, loose skin, thin skin, skin laxity and drooping skin at 3 different levels with our 3D Collagen Boost Package, which includes an Ultherapy treatment for the Face and Neck, 2 syringes of Radiesse filler, and a Neocutis Micro Firm Neck cream. This combination treatment will help you get long-lasting results in the office and at home!

Ultherapy

Ultherapy is the only non-invasive treatment approved by the FDA for lifting the skin on the neck, chin and brow/forehead. Ultherapy uses targeted ultrasound to lift and tighten loose skin, without any downtime! (Results vary from patient to patient). Ultherapy results last up to a year or two, with great results in patients with collagen loss.

How the Ultherapy Works
Source: https://ultherapy.com/what-to-expect-non-invasive-ultrasound-treatment/

Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound to generate a thermal effect under the skin. This has the ability to reach the lowest level of the skin, the basal layer, where the collagen loss is most prominent. The thermal effect essentially fires up the repair process in the skin that strengthens existing collagen and produces fresh, brand-new collagen. Here are a few stunning before and after photos that demonstrate the power of Ultherapy!

Radiesse

Filler, or dermal fillers, are FDA-approved to add volume to areas where the volume has been depleted or lost. They also create a smoother and/or fuller appearance to the area that’s treated. Collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid are all imperative in keeping the skin smooth and tight. The combination of these injected into the skin ensures that your skin remains firm.

As stated above, our skin, over time, naturally loses elasticity as we get older. And as a result, fine lines and wrinkles will become more noticeable. Of course, genetics and lifestyle do play a large role in how our skin ages. Fillers can be used to help plump thinning lips, enhance cheek bones, restructure the chin, define the jaw line, and can create support for drooping skin. When diluted properly, it can be injected throughout the face to stimulate collagen growth.

Radiesse is a volumizing filler, and like many other fillers, it brings back instant volume to the skin for that instant gratification. What’s unique about Radiesse is that it also works under the skin to continue producing collagen, making it last up to one year!

Utilizing Ultherapy and Radiesse together will have even a bigger result than having one or the other alone. The 3D Collagen Boost addresses skin laxity and sagging, plus stimulates collagen while targeting deflation and volume loss.

Neocutis Neo Therapy Neck & Décolleté Tightening Cream

As a part of the 3D Collagen Boost package, you will also take home a Neocutis Neo Therapy Neck Cream. This cream supports the results of the Ultherapy treatment to improve skin texture and elasticity, continuing the reproduction of collagen, plus it adds moisture for supple skin. Overall, this neck cream is excellent to continue to tighten any saggy skin as well as diminish the appearance of age spots.Neocutis Neo Therapy Neck Cream Product Photo

While there are several treatments to choose from, one treatment by itself can only do so much. By combining treatments, patients can have a purposeful treatment plan that is personalized to them, yielding longer lasting results. This 3D Collagen Boost Package is a trifecta of treatments that targets the aging process from every depth. Deep within the dermis, underneath the skin, and topically. This will help to fight collagen loss on 3 different levels.

If you think about your skin as a house, Ultherapy is like the foundation. Making sure the foundation is solid, secure and strong gives you the perfect base to start with. It stimulates your own collagen, creating a beautiful, lifting support. Radiesse Filler is like the insulation, adding more support and giving your home another protective layer. Top it off with the Neocutis Firming Neck cream, your house is now complete with stylish home décor!

At Blume Skin & Body we created the 3D Collagen Boost as an anti-aging package to fight collagen loss on 3 different levels. As always, results will vary from patient to patient. That’s why it is important to have a one-on-one consultation with your Licensed Ultherapist and Injector, to determine the best treatment for you!

Moxi Laser and Photofacial Treatments – the perfect treatment for everybody

Photofacials have been a trending topic amidst the aesthetic and beauty world for many years and have been recently gaining even more popularity. This treatment was invented in the 90’s and it has come a long way, PhotoFacial, IPL and BBL are all terms for light energy delivered safely to the skin. At Blume Skin & Body, we are no strangers to photofacials, our office has the Lumenis M22 IPL, Sciton Joule BBL and two Sciton Mjoules with in motion BBL and the MOXI laser. Our expert Certified Laser Technichians have been able to offer many more options in terms of light and laser treatments to lift pigment, smooth out wrinkles, get rid of unwanted texture, and clear blemishes for the face and body. Read on to learn more about the different treatment options available with this one machine and which one may be right for you!

IPL/BBL Photofacial Treatments
One of the newest treatments available is BBL with the Sciton Mjoule. Many patients are familiar with the IPL (or Intense Pulsed Light) treatment, and the BBL Photofacial is very similar with the updated Broad Band Light technology. At Blume Skin & Body, the BBL Photofacial is our most popular treatment because it covers a wide array of our clients’ concerns. In Arizona especially, the sun causes so much damage to the skin, resulting in collagen destruction, added wrinkles, sun spots, and broken capillaries – all of which the BBL, IPL Photofacial can treat.

Photofacials produce amazing results for those battling pigmentation issues, including sun damage, rosacea, acne scarring, and more. Interestingly enough, photofacials have also been shown to treat dry eyes because it reduces inflammation and vascular activity around the tear duct. The Lumenis M22 IPL has gotten FDA Clearance for this amazing treatment to help with inflammation and dry eye. Check out the information on the Beautiful Eyes Treatment on our website for more information.

The Photofacial is quick, comfortable and produces amazing results from the first treatment. Patients will experience a bit of redness and perhaps swelling on day one, which will reduce quickly and in the following days, dark spots will begin to lift from the face and eventually slough away.

The BBL Photofacial is recommended to be done in a series of three, with each treatment being done four weeks apart. After the initial three treatments, patients will only need to do the treatment every 6 to twelve months for maintenance, depending on their skin and lifestyle.

Forever Body BBL
The Sciton Mjoule also allows us to recreate the stunning results of a Photofacial all over the body with the Forever Body BBL. Chest, arms, shoulders, legs and more can all be treated with ease because of the in-motion attachments on the Mjoule machine. The Forever Body BBL treatment is comfortable and quick, with little downtime, just like Photofacials!

Also recommended in a series of three treatments, the Forever Body BBL can help reduce vascular issues, redness, and dark spots to improve signs of aging anywhere on the body. Results are seen within 2 – 4 weeks.

Forever Clear BBL
Over 50% of Americans struggle with acne, but with Forever Clear BBL treatments, acne can be controlled without the use of topical creams or prescriptions. This treatment can also be done with the Sciton Mjoule, Lumenis M22 or Sciton Joule, and utilizes three different wavelengths of light to kill p.acne bacteria that causes breakouts, calm down redness and reduce inflammation. Patients who struggle with acne can receive these treatments 1 – 2 times a week and will begin to see results soon. Multiple treatments will most likely be needed, but fortunately these treatments are quick, comfortable and do not require any downtime!

Moxi + BBL Photofacial
The BBL Photofacial treatments have excellent results with little downtime, but it does have a few limitations. Those with certain skin conditions like Melasma, or darker skin tones would not be a candidate for the BBL treatments. However, that is where the Moxi laser treatment comes into play! The Moxi treatment is unique because it is safe for all skin types, allowing the providers at Blume Skin & Body to treat even more patients.

The Moxi Laser treatment is a 1927 true laser that can help even out tone and texture of skin, induce collagen production, decrease pore size, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and the Moxi can even picks up on complicated pigment that the Photofacial may miss.

This treatment can be done in combination with the BBL treatment, creating a super-powerful light and laser treatment. However, for those who aren’t a candidate for the BBL treatment, the Moxi can be done on its’ own and still provides great anti-aging, preventative care that is perfect for everybody.

What are the benefits of Oxygen Facials?
And how to pick the most effective treatment at Blume Skin & Body

Oxygen facials are no stranger to the aesthetics industry. They claim to help improve blood circulation, which plumps the skin and makes it appear brighter. Fight acne, and accelerate wound healing, as well as kill certain bacteria.
But are Oxygen Facials just another “hype” treatment? There are the machines that blow air “into” the pores. Glass oxygen domes that sit around the head. Topical masks that claim to bring oxygen to the skin. Needless to say, there is a lot on the market in terms of “Oxygen Facials”.

One treatment that stands out, is the Oxygeneo/Geneo Facial and is available at Blume Skin & Body. The Oxygeneo/ Geneo facial is a non-invasive treatment that is suitable for all skin types. Its unique oxygenation technology helps trigger the body’s natural, physiological process of producing oxygen. Oxygen is then carried to the surface of the skin. The elevated levels of oxygen prepare the skin to absorb key nutrients throughout the rest of the facial treatment. This process increases oxygen levels internally within skin. Not just putting oxygen around the skin, in hopes that it will penetrate.

After the oxygenation and exfoliation process is complete, a blend of active ingredients are infused into the skin during an ultrasound and neo-massage step. This allows for maximum skin hydration and pure nourishment.

As you already know, all Blume Skin treatments are 100% customizable. Even the Oxygeneo/Geneo Facial! Each and every Oxygeneo/ Geneo facial is geared towards specific skincare needs and goals. 100% natural ingredients like red algae, charcoal, & vitamin C, are calculated to achieve individual skincare goals. Natural sources of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants will improve the skin’s overall health and appearance. This is always our #1 priority.

The Geneo Facial has it all. Detox, Hydrate, Illuminate, Balance and Revive. There truly is a Geneo facial for everyone!

Geneo Detox: Prevents and reduces damaged cells with the help of anti-inflammatory properties. These modalities help to soothe and relax the skin. So much of the irritation and redness are caused by external allergens, environmental stressors and free radicals.

Geneo Hydrate: Gentle exfoliation ingredients along with vitamins helps to improve the skin’s texture, tone and clarity. Natural ingredients in their dormant state helps to improve the skin’s moisture retention. This process enhances hydration and firmness. Microcirculation is stimulated as well as collagen synthesis, which leads to an improved metabolism of the skin.

Geneo Illuminate: Vitamin C and Kojic Acid will aid in reducing and inhibiting hyperpigmentation caused by sun damage and standard aging. By unifying the skins tone, a more even skin tone and texture will shine through.

Geneo Balance: Removes impurities by a proprietary blend of charcoal and a variety of acids to detoxify the skin by removing dirt and build up. The anti-bacterial ingredients help to treat and fight acne from reoccurring. Antioxidants help refine pore size as well as promote collagen stimulation while balancing oil production.

Geneo Revive: Ferulic Acid and Retinyl Palmitate helps to improve the skins elasticity, resulting in a smoother more sleek appearance. While reducing fine lines and diminishing the signs of aging, the naturally derived ingredients help to even out the skin tone and reduces sun damage.

Rather than falling for a fad oxygen treatment with little to no objective. It only makes sense to trust the science. The science of Oxygeneo/Geneo is first class. Like anything, choosing an aesthetic treatment should be based on the science and the strategy of the treatment. Covering your head with a glass dome pumping with air or “pushing” oxygen onto the skin with an airbrush tool doesn’t quite have the scientific backbone to warrant any type of result. The Oxygeneo/Geneo Facial has the capability to produce an instant gratification and long lasting results speaks for itself!

What does skin care product cocktailing mean?

So much skincare, how to choose the best concoction for your skin care concerns? With skincare cocktailing you can mix premium skin product brands to design the perfect skincare routine for you. What skincare products can I mix together safely? Here is a general rule of thumb with choosing skincare products according to specific skin types.

-Foaming Cleanser- is a great option for that “clean” feeling and preferably those with combination or oily skin.
-Lotion/Creamy Cleanser- gentle enough for all skin types and also a great makeup remover. Preferably those that have dry skin, sensitive skin, reactive skin and using topical prescriptions and retinol.
-Exfoliating Cleanser- not advised for active acne, or rosacea, but great for clogged pores and once weekly exfoliation.
-Antioxidant Serums- designed for brightening and free radical protection. Great for all skin types except acne.
-Hyaluronic Acid serum- perfect for everyone, even acne
-Growth Factor and Peptide Serums – excellent choice for antiaging and overall skin health
-Retinol- recommended to be advised by a medical aesthetician for dosing. Not recommended for pregnant woman, breastfeeding woman or taking Accutane.

Those were just a few standard skincare products to choose from. Let’s get down to the nitty gritty.

Your mom’s neighbor’s daughter is selling a multilevel marketing skincare line and you are interested in learning about the products because you have been on an uphill battle with your skin. This line seems simple, there’s a “kit” for acne, a “kit” for anti-aging, a “kit” for dry skin. Easy peasy pick a kit and abracadabra your skin is fixed! Not quite.

The pre-picked skincare kits sound great, with no thinking required. The trouble with this method is that not everyone can tolerate every product in an acne “kit” morning and night. Or the products in the anti-aging “kit”. Or any of the “kits”. Our skin is so complex. For example, there are a number of different varieties of acne. Hormone related, stress related, diet related, oil production, and so much more. It takes specific training and education to identify them. Along with aging skin, dry skin and sensitive skin.

For the majority of the population, a combination of these categories is typical. We need to take into consideration each individual’s skin type. Do they breakout still? Are they dry or oily? What’s their sensitivity level? Are they reactive? This must be done BEFORE anything else. A good skincare routine is necessary to protect your investment in any laser treatments, chemical peels or photofacial treatments.

For many, helping to erase and prevent fine lines, wrinkles and pigmentation are the goal. Of course, skin care alone can’t turn back the clock, but skincare alongside good medical grade treatments can. But throwing them a cookie cutter anti-aging skincare “kit” isn’t always the answer. Is the individual oily? If they are, the products may be too heavy for them. Are they prone to breakouts? Perhaps this would lead to unwanted blemishes. Then we have to fix acne and aging. A fun combo. Your Medical Aesthetician and Certified Laser Technician can help guide you through the maze of choices.

Even treating acne can be tricky. A standard acne skincare “kit” can be extremely harmful to the skin. Typically, acne geared skincare can contain a combination of glycolic acid, salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, lactic acid, physical exfoliants and retinol. These are all amazing ingredients to help fight acne, kill bacteria and prevent future breakouts. But when these are used every day, twice a day, your results will be the complete opposite of what you were trying to achieve.

The rule of thumb when cocktailing any skincare together is, if you are using any products that are drying, or that compromise the surface of the epidermis (retinol, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, etc.), you should be using a mild cleanser, a sunscreen and a denser moisturizer to balance out the dryness from the more aggressive products. Hyaluronic Acid is another amazing product to incorporate into your routine. Hyaluronic Acid is recommended for all skin types, especially acne. Using products that help to kill bacteria will leave the skin feeling dry and irritated. That’s when Hyaluronic can play a major role is deep hydration without adding heavy moisturizer.
